Celebrating Our 2023 Service to Education Awards – Honoring a Legacy of Service

Our 2023 Service to Education Awards was a beautiful celebration of community, generosity, and the incredible power of education to change lives.

As we look back on this special evening, we are reminded of the extraordinary individuals and organizations who share our belief in investing in the futures of the students of the Montebello Unified School District.

This evening holds an especially meaningful place in our hearts, as it was the last Service to Education Awards hosted by our beloved founder and dear friend, Bill Whitmore, before his passing. What was once a beautiful celebration of our students and community has become an even more treasured memory of a remarkable man whose life was devoted to serving others.

We are truly blessed to have these treasured moments captured on video, allowing us to look back, hear his words once again, and remember the sincerity, compassion, and dedication with which he served our community. Knowing this was the final SEA Awards celebration he would host makes these memories all the more precious. His voice continues to remind us of the importance of the work we do and the responsibility we share in carrying his vision forward.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our honorees, sponsors, donors, volunteers, and community partners whose generosity makes our mission possible.

Most importantly, we celebrate our scholarship recipients. Their determination, achievements, and dreams are the very reason this Foundation exists and why Bill worked so tirelessly to create opportunities for them.

Although Bill is deeply missed, his legacy lives on in every student we support, every opportunity we create, and every dream we help bring within reach.

Thank you for being part of the MUSD Foundation family, for honoring those who helped build our legacy, and for helping us continue the work that meant so much to Bill.

Together, we carry his vision forward, one student, one opportunity, and one brighter future at a time.
